HSN & SAC Code Finder

Search the full official CBIC HSN/SAC master list by product or service name — or by code. Free, runs in your browser.

Full official code list, partial rate coverage. Codes and descriptions come from the official CBIC HSN/SAC master. Where shown, GST rates reflect CBIC Notification 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), effective 22 September 2025. Codes marked Check CBIC don't yet have a verified rate here — and even shown rates can vary by packaging, price or sub-classification, so always confirm against the official CBIC notification before invoicing or filing.

HSN & SAC codes, explained

HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature) is the international system for classifying goods; India uses it on GST invoices and returns. SAC (Services Accounting Code) is the equivalent for services — those codes start with 99. The right code determines the GST rate and how the supply is reported in GSTR-1.

This finder loads the full official CBIC HSN/SAC master list — over 22,600 codes — so you can look any of them up instantly, free with a Quillix login. We've verified GST 2.0 rates (CBIC Notification 9/2025, effective 22 September 2025) for the most commonly used codes; the rest show the code and description with a prompt to check CBIC, rather than a guessed rate. Some HSN headings vary by packaging, price or sub-classification, so always confirm against the current notification before you rely on it.

HSN/SAC finder — FAQ

What is an HSN code?

HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature) is a globally standardised numbering system for classifying goods. Indian GST uses HSN codes to determine the tax rate and to report supplies on returns like GSTR-1.

What is the difference between HSN and SAC?

HSN codes classify goods; SAC (Services Accounting Code) codes classify services and start with 99. Use HSN for products and SAC for services.

Are these GST rates current?

Where a rate is shown, yes — it's been updated to the GST 2.0 schedule effective 22 September 2025 (CBIC Notification 9/2025). Not every one of the 22,600+ official codes has a verified rate yet; those show "Check CBIC" instead of a guessed number. Some HSN headings also span multiple rates depending on packaging, price or sub-classification, so always confirm the exact rate against the official CBIC notification before invoicing or filing.

Why do some codes say "Check CBIC" instead of a rate?

This finder covers the full official CBIC HSN/SAC code list, but we only publish a GST rate once we've verified it against the current GST 2.0 schedule. Rather than guess, codes we haven't verified yet show "Check CBIC" so you know to confirm the rate directly.

How do I find the code for my product or service?

Type the product or service name (for example “rice”, “laptop”, or “legal services”), or type a code directly. The finder lists matching HSN/SAC codes with their description and GST rate, where verified.
